Dokolo Chief Magistrates court held its District Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday May 15, 2024 chaired by HW Dr. Irene Namae, the resident Magistrate Grade I.

In attendance of the meeting were the Chief Magistrate of Lira, HW Joe Adoko Fay, RDC, DPC, LC V chairperson, OC- Prisons, Senior Resident State Attorney among others.

Many issues were discussed which included following right procedure in exhumation, efficient tracking of police files, sensitization of the public on court procedures.

In his remarks, the Chief Magistrate HW Joe Fay Adoko pledged to ensure efficient and timely delivery of Justice.

HW Namae noted that the court had disposed of most of the cases and as of April, she had only 46pending cases while the Chief Magistrate had 75. The Chief Magistrate of Dokolo also handles cases from Amolatar and Namasaale.

Among the challenges noted were the understaffing of the Office of the Director of PublicProsecutions. The Court has only one state Attorney who handles cases before Grade I and Chief Magistrate and at the same time is always away handling sessions at Lira High court.

The Court is not fenced yet the Magistrate and staff reside at the Court premises which poses a high security risk.

The Resident District Commissioner, Ms Barbara Akech thanked the Magistrate for the great work and noted that she has not received any complaint from the public about the Court.

The meeting resolved to have such meetings on a quarterly basis to discuss issues pertaining dispensation of Justice in the District.
